In the song “Too Cold At Home” by Mark Chesnutt, is the singer on vacation in a warm place?

The way I understand it is that he likes to go fishing and golfing. It’s too cold where he lives (must be winter), so he went on vacation to a warmer climate. But he’s complaining because now it’s too hot to fish and too hot for golf, so he still can’t do what he wants to do. So instead, he’s just sitting in an air-conditioned bar drinking. Is this correct?

    1. Sawmill Says:

No, he just has a bad relationship with his wife/girlfriend. That’s what he means by “Too Cold At Home”.

Are you not American or you simply unfamiliar with the phrases? Too cold at home is a reference to a woman being icey, which is a nice way to say she is angry at you(ever heard of the cold shoulder).
