I dont want to get into the whole Ripleys and Gator Golf thing. I want a classy and fun vacation for me and my family. I have 4 children. We have gone to Niagara Falls and my family did not enjoy all the commercialized corny attractions that are WAAAAAAY to overpriced. Is Myrtle Beach like that?? or is it more classy

Since you’re not wound up by the typical how about the atypical?
Here’s two links to help:http://www.nps.gov/index.htm National Parks Odd and Unusual Zoo in Myrtle Beach area

America is almost 100% corporate now, but there are places that aren’t too corrupted. Try Brattleboro, Vermont for a low key family vacation.

Yes it is overly commercialized and centered around high volume tourism. I think if your interest is in going to the beach in South Carolina and having a classy, corny trip I would suggest Kiawah Island. It is a short drive from Myrtle Beach (even closer to Charleston) so you could if you wanted to just zip in and do some wacky tourist things and then get back out to the relaxation that a classic beach like Kiawah offers. If you are going to Kiawah and would like less corny vacation things to do, look into all the great things to do in Charleston. It is full of history and amazing restaurants and just good clean fun. And as I mentioned earlier it is close to Kiawah.
